At Caring Transitions Charleston, we are helping out the community in so many ways! One of the things we are most proud of is the impact our donations have in the community. While we try to sell everything for our clients, many items such as clothing don't have a great resale value and have more impact donating to the community. We donate to several organizations, but today I'd like to share this wonderful note I received from New Life Baptist Church and the people they were able to serve from our donations:
"Dear Mr. Murray,
In April of 2016 Caring Transitions starting giving New life Baptist Church various items to sell at their yard sales. The yard sales help New Life Baptist Church give back to the community. The April yard sale helped us to start filling up our food pantry.
On May 28, 2016, we had another yard in which we exchanged items for canned goods. In return, we helped feed (2) families of 4.
On June 11, 2016, we had another yard sale, this time we gave away 17 bags of clothes, 20 pairs of pants to a small block of elderly ladies in Ridgeville, and we fed a family of 5.
In July a lady from the community came to our church looking for help. She was struggling with her bills and food, because we were able to have help from you we had money in the bank to help her. We were able to pay her rent, water bill, and provide her with groceries for a month.
Our biggest goal we set for ourselves came in August. On August 06, 2016 we were able to provide school supplies for 71 kids. We gave way the following: 45-50 bags of clothes, over 24 pairs of shoes, more than 100 books; and got the Dorchester District Abuse Center to use their non-profit number to receive 500.00 from Kohl's.
The men's clothes that you donated for a yard sale will be going to Hope of Haven on Central Avenue in Summerville. This is a men's shelter. They help the men get a job.
There is a church in Moncks Corner in November they hold a block party and give out jackets. We have (5) bags of jackets to give them because of you.
We our working on feeding 100 families on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Our goal is to provide Christmas gifts to the children at the abuse center.
We know God is working through you to help us with those who are without. Thank you just does not seem to be enough. But, we are so thankful for your organization. God Bless you all for the work you do.
Sincerely,
New Life Baptist Church"
